MICHAEL EGIZI

Michael Egizi's Biography

Michael Egizi is an award winning composer and musician, who's music can be heard in millions of homes around the world every day.

With over two decades of experience, Michael has established himself as one of the top television composers in the industry, creating music and themes for some of the most recognizable shows on television, including Entertainment Tonight, Dr. Phil, The InsiderThe Doctors, and Extra.

Michael’s creative vision is a reflection of his rich musical background, which began when his grandfather started teaching him classical piano at age 8. He continued his studies in piano, composition and theory at Mount St. Mary’s College.

As a young full-time musician, Michael’s career began in the Los Angeles music scene. He played keyboard, worked as a studio musician and toured the world with several major artists in all genres from Rene & Angela to Richard Marx. Michael also wrote music for his bands, as well as a variety of other artists.

Michael began his journey in television music in the early 90’s, when he was hired as Musical Director/Music Producer for The Disney Channel’s MMC (also known as The All New Mickey Mouse Club). Along the way, Michael also composed and produced music for spinoff shows (Emerald Cove and Prescott Press), composed and produced a highly successful studio album, and was involved in the international tour. The show is now remembered for its notable musical alumni, including Christina Aguilera, Britney Spears, and Justin Timberlake.

After working in film music at Hans Zimmer’s Media Ventures (now Remote Control Productions), Michael became a partner in a small composing team, Planet One Productions. Planet One flourished, creating music and themes for many iconic television shows of the 90’s, including Hard Copy and Real TV.

In 2002, Michael started his own company, Diamond E Music, which later became Diamond Mine Productions. For the past 10 years, Michael has focused on growing the company with a clear goal to keep the quality of music ahead of the curve.

Smooth Jazz

Though his film and television work have kept him extremely busy, Michael has enjoyed composing and producing for several top Smooth Jazz artists since the mid-90’s. His debut into the genre came on Boney James’ album Seduction. Michael wrote, arranged and played keyboards on both the title track and the song “Camouflage,” which became a #1 single on the Jazz charts and Smooth Jazz radio.

Since then, Michael has had several more #1 Jazz singles, including Rick Braun’s “Missing In Venice” and Larry Carlton’s “Fingerprints.” Michael wrote Peter White’s “Midnight In Manhattan,” which features Jazz-Funk sax legend, Grover Washington, Jr. The track was named Song of the Year at the Oasis Contemporary Jazz Awards and reached #1 on the Billboard Jazz Charts.

Michael has also collaborated with artist and long time friend Euge Groove on several albums, also playing keyboard with him on tour.
